Adventures with ALICE: Voyage to the Virgin Islands (#2), Fall 2005

Michael kept the wake nice and straight. We reeled off 175 miles on this third day at sea.

Sunsets were as beautiful as any we've seen. The green flash showed on three evenings, along with a lovely conjunction of Venus and the moon.

After powering across a high pressure ridge, we found the easterly trades and headed south

Michael shows off Alice's balanced helm as the trades freshened to 25 knots.

Tom must see something good out there in the dawn...

Sure enough, it's Jost Van Dyke, an outlying island of the British Virgins. Foxy's legendary beach bar is just around the corner. Can you forgive my foolish grin? The only equipment failure in over 1300 miles and 8 3/4 days at sea was cracked glass on the french press coffee maker.

.

Celebrating Alice's arrival at Coral Bay, her winter homeport, with her good buddies Clark Beam and Cathy Noonan. It's so nice to have everything stay on a stable table!
