Adventures with ALICE: Caribbean Cruise

At last, a dose of what we came for. Beba relaxing on the foredeck as we beach hop in the lee of Antigua

The captain's birthday properly celebrated.

Ladies week was spent thinking about the next meal, or trying to hold down the last one!

We visited the Indian River 24 years after our first visit when Max was a  baby.

It was just as lovely as ever.

Martin Carriere was our guide and became a friend. We visited his new home.

Crossing the channels between islands was sometimes rough. Bashing to windward off Martinique, the staysail turnbuckle failed from metal fatigue. The whole sail and furling gear blew off to leeward. Luckily the bottom of the furler was within reach, so we hauled it down to the deck with the windlass, getting enough tension to furl the sail. Another piece of luck was finding a rigger in our next port who specialized in the gear we had, and could make the repairs needed.
