Adventures with ALICE: Voyage to the Virgin Islands, Fall 2005

Alice ready to go in Beaufort, North Carolina, just waiting for lost luggage and that proverbial weather window

Tom Franklin on watch as we run southeast after crossing the Gulfstream

The northwest wind kept building, but all in the right direction!

Michael Davies added 90,000 miles of sailing experience aboard his schooner Archangel to Alice's crew. Our sextant was a bit moldy after years of disuse since GPS came to sailors, but he confirmed our position in the good old way.

Otto the autopilot was doing fine in the big stern seas, but it was fun to hand steer.

.

Alice rode these 12 footers like the big duck she is, taking only a few splashes in the cockpit.
